BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi exchanged congratulatory messages Sunday with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, over the 65th anniversary of their countries' diplomatic relations.

Not long ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel in Beijing and reached new important consensus on the development of relations between the two parties and two countries, he noted.

Wang expressed his readiness to maintain close communication with Rodriguez to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen political mutual trust between the two parties and countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two foreign ministries, advance the special friendly relations between China and Cuba from a new historical starting point, and continuously enrich the China-Cuba community with a shared future.

For his part, Rodriguez said that over the years, Cuba and China have respected and supported each other, kept strengthening political mutual trust, carried out cooperation in various fields, and jointly defended socialism and multilateralism, forging a solid brotherly friendship that has consistently benefited the two peoples.
