5.8-magnitude quake hits 51 km NE of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic -- USGS

BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 jolted 51 km NE of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic at 0245 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 2.0 km, was initially determined to be at 18.86 degrees north latitude and 68.02 degrees west longitude.
