HAVANA -- The 24th Cuba International Agribusiness Fair (FIAGROP 2023) kicked off on Monday in the country's capital Havana with the participation of more than 20 international companies.
Twenty-four firms from countries including Mexico, Italy and Spain are present at the fair, along with 54 local companies, Cuba's state news agency Prensa Latina reported. (FIAGROP 2023-Cuba)

SAN FRANCISCO -- Amazon announced on Monday the company's plan to cut 9,000 more jobs in a new round of layoffs.

SAN FRANCISCO -- U.S. coffee giant Starbucks announced on Monday that Laxman Narasimhan has officially taken over the company's CEO position from Howard Schultz and will lead the annual shareholders meeting Thursday.
The announcement came sooner than expected.
After being named the incoming CEO in September last year, the coffee giant previously said Narasimhan was expected to assume duties fully in April. (US-Starbucks-CEO)

LILONGWE -- The death toll from Tropical Cyclone Freddy in Malawi reached 499 as of Monday evening, from 476 as reported Sunday evening, with the number of displaced people increasing from 490,098 to 508,244.
